Earlier this year, Eversource Energy announced its intent to sell Aquarion Company. In May, Unitil Corporation agreed to purchase Aquarion Water Company of Massachusetts, Aquarion Water Company of New Hampshire and Abenaki Water Company (“the Companies”).
This transaction is expected to be finalized in 2025 and is subject to regulatory approval in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. If the transaction is approved, the Companies would continue to operate as regulated water companies and would become wholly owned subsidiaries of Unitil.
