Twice-Weekly Sprinkler Irrigation Schedule Now In Effect for Newtown and Bethel Customers
With an Interim water supply interconnection now in place with the Town of Newtown, Aquarion has lifted the ban on non-essential outdoor water use.
Please note that this interconnection is intended for emergency use only and not a permanent solution to the water supply issue. The Town of Newtown and the impacted parties continue to negotiate with the railroad company to resolve the blockage of the Pootatuck River caused by a culvert collapse.
Customers are reminded to follow Aquarion's mandatory, twice-weekly sprinkler irrigation schedule for the remainder of the season. Assuming customer cooperation, Aquarion is hopeful that this schedule can be extended into 2026.
Drip irrigation, soaker hoses, and hand watering are allowed at any time.
