Water Infrastructure Work to Begin in Brookfield

May 21, 2026 by Peter Fazekas Connecticut

PFAS Treatment Project Scheduled to Start June 1, 2026

Brookfield, CONN. – May 21, 2026 – Aquarion Water Company continues to perform essential work on water infrastructure in Brookfield, which is necessary to ensure continued system reliability and water quality.

On June 1, 2026, Aquarion’s contractor is scheduled to begin construction on its wellfield treatment facility located at 139 Pocono Road. A new stand-alone building will be constructed to house new treatment equipment for removing PFAS from drinking water. The project is intended to ensure that drinking water treated at these facilities complies with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s National Primary Drinking Water Regulation for PFAS, which was announced on April 10, 2024. The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2027.

“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience as we complete this important project,” said Mike Hiltz, Aquarion’s Manager of Project Delivery, Engineering and Planning. “We will work closely with our customers, neighbors, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions during construction.”

Normal working hours for construction will be between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Terryville-based Richards Corporation will serve as the general contractor for the project, which is expected to have little to no impact on traffic in the area.
