Construction of pressure reducing facility replacement project to launch October 23

NEWTOWN, CONN. – October 18, 2023 – Aquarion Water Company continues to perform essential work on water infrastructure in Newtown necessary to ensure continued system reliability.

On October 23, 2023, construction is scheduled to start on a project to replace an underground pressure reducing facility on Tory Lane in Newtown. The project is designed to maintain water main pressure and fire flow capacity in the northern Newtown and Bethel areas.  This infrastructure upgrade is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water and service.  The project is expected to be completed in spring 2024.

“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Mike Hiltz, Aquarion’s Manager of Capital Delivery, Engineering and Planning.  “We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions.”

Due to construction, residences and businesses may experience minor traffic delays and possible detours during normal working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Seymour-based Griffin Brothers Excavation, LLC will be serving as the general contractor for the project.
