Water Infrastructure Work to Begin in Westport

Oct 10, 2023 by Peter Fazekas Connecticut

Pressure reducing facility removal project scheduled to start October 10, 2023

WESTPORT, CONN. – October 10, 2023 – Aquarion Water Company continues to perform essential work on water infrastructure in Westport necessary to ensure continued system reliability.

On October 10, 2023 a pressure reducing facility removal project is scheduled to begin at the intersection of Cross Highway and Bayberry Lane in Westport.  Due to recent system upgrades, this aging facility no longer needs to remain in operation and will be replaced with two hydrants within the town right-of-way. The hydrants add firefighting infrastructure to the neighborhood but also improve operational capability for maintaining service to customers in the two pressure zones.  The project is expected to be completed in late October 2023.

“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Mike Hiltz, Aquarion’s Manager of Capital Delivery, Engineering and Planning.  “We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions.”

Due to construction, residences and businesses should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during normal working hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.   Shelton-based John J. Brennan Construction Co., Inc. will be serving as the general contractor for the project.
